When and how long to study in Highschool...

-A question that many people have. I'll try to answer it the best that I can.

First of all, in the speed-reading Remember Everything You Read book, based on the Evelyn Wood speed reading courses, forty minute study sessions (for 1 subject) are suggested, with a five to ten minute break in between studying. They say that the first ten and last ten minutes are most effective times, when your brain takes in the largest amount of material. Anything over, and your brain fries.
I believe that this is a good amount of studying (not overall, just for one day) for one period. This should be over one or two pages of definitions/speeches/etc. for this amount of time.
However, most days I do not have enough time to do this, and thus I do shorter study periods to work in all of my subjects.
For example, I normally have one memory verse to memorize each weak for bible class. I probably spend a max of one hour on this verse, spread throughout the week. (The largest study period for this would be the day before the test.) If allowed, I also look over it before the test. (However, it is not advised in the Evelyn Wood book to study right before a test. That's your choice.)

Hope this blog helped you, and subscribe!
